Nollywood actor and comic star Amokade Olatayo, popularly known as Ijebu, has sparked massive reactions online after revealing the staggering amount he allegedly spent on internet data in 2025.
In a viral video shared on his Instagram page, the Yoruba movie star disclosed that after calculating his internet expenses from January to December, the total came up to ₦1.8 trillion, a figure that left him shocked and restless.
“I am thinking, and I can’t even sleep,” Ijebu said in the video. “I calculated the total amount I have spent on internet data, subscription, and Wi-Fi from January to December, and it is ₦1.8 trillion.”
Clearly overwhelmed by the realization, the actor added a short caption to the post that summed up his disbelief:
“It’s well… ₦1.8 trillion.”
The video quickly gained traction across social media platforms, with fans and fellow celebrities reacting with humour, disbelief, and jokes about Nigeria’s rising data costs, while some suggested the actor may have exaggerated for comic effect.
Ijebu, who is known for blending humour with real-life experiences, has had a successful year financially. Earlier this year, the actor unveiled his multi-million-naira lounge in Ilishan, Ogun State, thanking God for grace and mercy upon his life.
In July 2024, he also added a Land Rover to his fleet of cars, expressing gratitude to God for continuous growth. The comic actor had earlier acquired his dream car in 2023 and publicly appreciated his wife for standing by him, noting that behind every successful man is a supportive woman.
Ijebu has also made headlines for showering his wife with love and luxury, including gifting her a brand-new car and celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary in grand style. In previous years, he trended online for spraying bundles of ₦200 notes on his wife ahead of her birthday.
