The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into deep mourning following the sudden death of Nollywood actress and filmmaker Allwell Ademola, whose final Instagram post has taken on heartbreaking meaning in the wake of the tragedy.
The 43-year-old actress was reported dead on Saturday, barely 24 hours after she shared a soulful prayer video on social media, singing about survival and life.
In the now-viral clip, Allwell was seen singing passionately, with lyrics that have since stunned fans and colleagues alike.
“In the name of Jesus, I will see the end of this year; this year will not see my end,” she sang.
What appeared to be a simple end-of-year reflection has now become a digital memorial, with thousands flooding her page to express shock, disbelief, and grief.
As reports of her death spread online, several colleagues and fans initially struggled to accept the news. Some pleaded publicly for her to respond to calls and messages to debunk the reports.
Actress Kemi Apesin was among those who expressed concern, urging her to respond as rumours circulated.
Popular filmmaker Funke Akindele also confirmed the loss, writing on X:
“Rest in peace Allwell💔💔 This is so sad. May the Lord comfort her loved ones. Amen. It is well. Really sad.”
Many fans focused on the painful irony of Ademola’s final post, describing it as haunting and deeply emotional.

According to reports, Allwell Ademola suffered a heart attack at her residence and was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Her passing, coming just days before the end of the year, has left many shaken, especially in light of the prayer she sang shortly before her death.
