Nollywood actress and producer Nkechi Blessing Sunday has sparked intense conversations online after announcing her decision to quit movie production, citing massive financial losses and poor audience support.
Taking to her Instagram page, the actress revealed that she has spent over ₦80 million producing movies since September 2025 but has not been able to recover even ₦1 million from the projects.
A visibly frustrated Nkechi declared that she is done investing in film production, blaming low viewership and lack of genuine support within the industry.
“I give up. I no do again, abeg. I have spent over 80 million naira producing movies since September, and I haven’t received even one million back.
I no do again abeg. Make I go back to flying around the world.
As una no gree watch film if the movie is not over-hyped, I don try.
The ones we were there for sef no even fit help.
I am done abeg!” she wrote.
The actress’s post struck a chord with many colleagues and fans, reopening conversations around the harsh realities of Nollywood movie financing, distribution challenges, and audience bias toward only heavily promoted films.
This is not the first time Nkechi has spoken about struggles behind the scenes. Just a month ago, she shared a cryptic message about support and competition, noting that while some people collaborate and still win, others focus on tearing fellow creatives down.
Earlier in September, Nkechi broke down in tears on social media after accusing an unnamed individual of trying to destroy her brand. At the time, she emphasized that she is human and works hard for her livelihood.
Ironically, only months ago, the actress celebrated signing what she described as a life-changing deal, crediting God for her breakthrough and insisting that “delay is not denial.”
With her latest announcement, fans are left wondering whether this marks a permanent exit from movie production or a temporary pause born out of exhaustion.
