Fans React As Lyta Humiliated On Stage

Afrobeats singer Lyta has taken over conversations on Nigeria’s X (formerly Twitter) after a video of him being openly ridiculed during a live performance surfaced online.

The young star, best known for his breakout hits “Time” and “Monalisa,” was performing at a local event when an attendee suddenly disrupted his set. As Lyta tried to transition the crowd into singing along to “Monalisa,” the man loudly called out his name and demanded he change the song, insisting if that was the only track he knew how to perform.

The awkward moment left the singer visibly unsettled on stage, while the crowd reacted shock. The clip quickly spread online, pushing Lyta into the top trending topics on X and reigniting long-running conversations about his career since leaving Olamide’s YBNL label.

Many fans described the incident as a clear case of public humiliation, while others used it to highlight how unforgiving the Nigerian music industry can be, especially to artists who once enjoyed massive hype.

Reacting to the video, @Mrfizzy_10 wrote, “That man is drvnk. Why will he humii@te Lyta like that on stage? If him get money, make him go Asake show now for 300k per head.”

Another user, @Engrvirus1, reminded fans of Lyta’s past success, saying, “And him been dey hot that year o.”

Calling out the disruption, @cfcvantablack added, “Even if you don hear am tire, na only you he dey perform for?”

Others took a more reflective tone. @mr_chiboi wrote, “Y’all mocking a one-hit wonder while the industry chews talent and spits it out for scraps. Burn the gatekeepers, not the artist.”

Sharing similar sentiments, @alphamike said, “Omoorh see finish on another level,” while @mvrkszn added, “Dem no even wan leave Lyta neck at all since all these years.”

Some fans also drew parallels with other young artistes who have faced public ridicule. @Ayomikun4pf noted, “Omo all these artists just dey go through a lot, na so them do Fola too that day.”

Lyta rose to prominence under YBNL with a run of hit records and was widely tipped as one of Afrobeats’ next big stars. However, his post-label journey has been marked by industry challenges, inconsistent releases, and now renewed public scrutiny.

The viral clip has once again sparked debate about artist respect, audience behaviour at live shows, and how quickly public perception can shift in Nigeria’s fast-moving music scene.
