God Said, Not This Family — BBNaija Queen Mercy, Family Narrowly Escape Death After POP Ceiling Falls

Big Brother Naija alum Queen Mercy Atang is counting her blessings after narrowly escaping what could have been a tragic accident in her home.

The reality TV star took to Instagram to share a frightening video showing the moment the POP ceiling in her living room collapsed, barely missing her younger sister and nanny who were inside the room at the time.

According to Mercy, the incident happened early in the morning while both women were awake and sewing, a detail she believes saved their lives.

Recounting the incident in an emotional post, Mercy revealed that she had just returned from a long night at work and was trying to get some rest when the accident occurred.

She wrote:

“7:58am God said, not this family.”

Mercy explained that she got home around 4 a.m. after picking up a close friend at the airport for a Guinness World Record project, which required an all-night shoot.

“I got home around 4am. When I arrived, my kid sister was still sewing. I remember telling my workers to sleep in the sitting room and go home once it was morning.”

She added that while one worker left, she persuaded the nanny to stay back because it was unsafe to go out at night.

“By 6 a.m. this morning, she had left. Meanwhile, my younger sister and my nanny were still awake sewing… I thank God they didn’t sleep there today.”

Moments later, disaster struck.

“They were still sewing when the POP ceiling fell. They both literally had to run for their lives.”

Mercy disclosed that she was asleep when her mother rushed into her room to break the news.

“I was trying to catch a few hours of sleep when my mum rushed in to tell me what had just happened.”

Her immediate concern was for her loved ones.

“The first thing I asked was, ‘Mommy, where is Doctor @dr_brightie and my nanny?’ She replied, ‘They’re upstairs.’ My blood pressure came down immediately.”

Shockingly, this is not the first structural scare Mercy has experienced in recent weeks.

“A few weeks ago, it was my garage POP that fell. This morning, it’s my sitting room.”

The actress revealed she is currently juggling the crisis at home with preparations for her friend’s Guinness World Record attempt, scheduled to kick off this Friday.

“As the coordinator of this event, my brain is literally everywhere… figuring out how to move my family to a more comfortable space while also ensuring this project is a complete success.”

Despite the chaos, Mercy ended her post on a thankful note.

“Dear Lord, I am grateful. Thank You for Your love and Your protection. I’m truly grateful.”

Fans and fellow celebrities have since flooded her comment section with prayers, thanksgiving messages, and calls for immediate safety checks on the building.
