Nigerian comedian and content creator Carter Efe has reached a major global milestone, becoming the fastest African streamer to hit 10,000 subscribers on Twitch.
The breakthrough happened during an emotional live stream that saw his channel attract over 7,000 viewers in under one minute, a moment that left the entertainer visibly overwhelmed on camera.
Fighting back tears, Carter Efe reflected on his journey and how long it took for his work to receive recognition.
“Most times, Nigerians no dey rate my skits, but now una dey show me mad love for streaming,” he said during the broadcast.
The sudden surge in subscribers was largely fueled by a joint stream invite from Afrobeats superstar Davido, whose appearance instantly drew massive traffic to Carter Efe’s channel. The singer also teased fans about their chemistry, joking ahead of the session:
“I go need face shield for this stream,” Davido said, sparking excitement online.
While the stream delivered historic numbers, it was not without tense moments. Carter Efe openly expressed disappointment over what he described as a lack of support from Wizkid, a comment that quickly ignited debate across social media.
The situation became more uncomfortable during a video call with Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface, where Carter Efe voiced frustration over access issues, leading to a visibly awkward exchange live on air.
Despite the drama, fans have largely focused on the bigger picture which is Carter Efe’s rapid rise on Twitch and what it represents for African creators on global streaming platforms.
With 10,000 subscribers and counting, Carter Efe has now etched his name into African digital history, proving that Nigerian creators can dominate beyond skits, music, and social media even in the highly competitive world of live streaming.
