Nollywood actress, producer and newly crowned YouTube top creator Omoni Oboli has offered an unexpectedly calm and encouraging response to an X user who boldly claimed he could make better movies than some of the biggest names in the Nigerian film industry.
The user, Ivankov Baboshkin, stirred controversy after confidently tweeting that he could outperform Omoni Oboli, Funke Akindele and Kunle Afolayan; three of Nollywood’s most successful filmmakers when it comes to creating Hollywood-standard movies.
Baboshkin wrote:
“I’m convinced and 100% sure I can do a better job and create a more compelling Hollywood standard movie than @omonioboli, @funkeakindele, and @kunleafolayan combined.”
Rather than fire back or defend her long-standing career, Omoni surprised many with her graceful, almost motherly response.
She tweeted:
“I believe you! Go do it! Rooting for you.”
Her reply quickly earned praise across social media as users applauded her maturity and willingness to encourage young creators instead of engaging in online drama.
The exchange comes just days after she topped YouTube’s list of Top Content Creator Channels in Nigeria for 2025, beating a competitive lineup that included Itele, Uchenna Mbunabo, Saira Movies, Ruth Kadiri, ApataTV+, Uche Montana TV and more.

Celebrating the achievement, Omoni expressed overwhelming gratitude, saying:
“God did a big one with this. I’ve been travelling and I’m exhausted, but I’m floating on this joy.”
She credited the millions of viewers and her creative team:
“Thank you to everyone who poured their heart into this journey. You carried Omoni Oboli TV.”
It’s no exaggeration that Omoni has carved her name deep into Nollywood history. After a five-year break from cinemas, she made a powerful return last year with The Uprising, which grossed over ₦93 million in one week, becoming the number-one Nollywood film of the weekend.
Her 2019 film Last Year Single also resurfaced triumphantly, becoming the number-one show on Netflix Nigeria, years after release, a rare feat.
