Nigerian hitmaker Young Jonn, has issued a firm message to his critics, urging them not to trivialize the years of effort that built his career.

The producer-turned-singer has been under fire in recent days, with a section of fans accusing him of sounding “monotonous.” Their comments sparked a wave of backlash that prompted the singer to publicly defend his craft.

Taking to his X page, Young Jonn wrote:

“If you’re not a fan of my work, leave it at that! Don’t come here and water down my years of hard work!”

His response quickly gained traction, reigniting the growing conversation around the pressure Nigerian artists face to evolve sonically while keeping up with fans’ expectations.

Some fans stepped up to defend him, insisting that constant criticism often blinds people to the consistency and evolution behind an artist’s journey. @adewunmi0112 wrote, “Don’t mind dem. The more you reply dem, the more arrogant they will become.”

In 2022, he switched to full-time artistry after signing with Chocolate City, and his breakout single “Dada”, followed by a viral remix with Davido, cemented his rise as one of the industry’s most successful producer-turned-singers.

With his latest reaction, Young Jonn makes it clear that he is open to growth, but not to the dismissal of his journey.
