Nollywood fans are celebrating as veteran actress Faithia Williams has finally reconciled with superstar filmmaker Funke Akindele, one year after openly calling her out for allegedly blocking her on Instagram.
Last year Faithia publicly confronted Funke for blocking her over her support for Mercy Aigbe and her movie. At the time, Faithia fired back boldly, telling Funke that she was “not her God” and that she would not be bothered by such a “petty act.”
However, in a surprising and heartwarming turn, Faithia took to Instagram on Thursday to share a video of a special gift package sent to her by Funke Akindele. The package came with a formal invitation to the premiere of Funke’s new film.
With excitement in her voice, Faithia praised her colleague for her consistency and talent, writing:
“December is here again, and you know what that means! Behind the Scenes by @funkejenifaakindele is premiering on December 7th, 2025. Catch it at the cinemas starting from December 12th! You already know it’s gonna be a blockbuster. Funke Jenifa Akindele never disappoints! Get ready to be thrilled!”
Fans thronged her comment section with jubilation, happy to see the actresses back on good terms.
Sherifah.xx wrote, “Good to see them back. Love you mamas.” Ogunnaike Funmilayo added, “Good to see them back.” Emmanuel Gbenguse commented, “This is awesome.”
The reconciliation is refreshing for Nollywood watchers, especially following the string of controversies Funke Akindele has been entangled in over the years.
Earlier this year, actor Ijoba Lande recounted working on one of her productions at Amen Estate for one month and receiving just N90,000. After sparking outrage, he later apologized, saying his words were taken “out of context,” and insisted Funke paid him more before he left the set.
In 2023, Funke was also dragged into a controversy involving Mo Abudu and Toyin Abraham, after reports surfaced that she allegedly influenced Toyin’s removal from the Chief Daddy sequel, claims that sparked backlash across social media.
Faithia Williams herself has also had a fair share of high-profile rifts. Her cold exchange with Mercy Aigbe earlier this year went viral after both women deliberately ignored each other at an event. In 2020, she and Iyabo Ojo famously clashed after reports emerged that Faithia leaked private details about Iyabo’s health. Iyabo lashed out at Faithia on her 51st birthday, calling her a “witch.”
The bitter feud lasted until January 2022, when MC Oluomo and actor Mr. Latin mediated a truce, leading both actresses to declare public love for each other, even though they admitted they still didn’t follow each other back on Instagram.
With Faithia and Funke now reunited, fans hope this marks a new wave of peace among Nollywood’s heavyweights, especially as December ushers in a season of movie premieres, public events, and celebrity reunions.
