Comedian I Go Save has faulted Nigerians who are rejoicing over the cancellation of Burna Boy’s U.S. concerts, calling the behaviour “witchcraft” and a reflection of widespread negativity.
Two of Burna Boy’s shows; Chicago and Minneapolis were recently scrapped by promoters due to low ticket sales, sparking mixed reactions online. While some expressed disappointment, others openly celebrated the development.
Reacting via his Instagram Story, the 46-year-old comedian condemned the jubilant responses.
He wrote:
“Burna concert kick out might be wrong or right depending on the sides you stand on! But same sinners pushing and celebrating a man’s source of daily bread cancellation is witchcraft! I thought your pastors teach about forgiveness every Sunday?”
I Go Save added that hatred does not hinder a person’s blessings:
“The fact you hate somebody doesn’t stop God’s blessings. Meanwhile you still celebrate your political oppressors. This generation and bad belle na 5 & 6!”
He stressed that celebrating another person’s setback reflects “negative energy,” urging Nigerians to learn to support their own even when they disagree with them.
The backlash against Burna Boy intensified after a recent incident in the U.S. where he paused his show to confront a woman in the front row who appeared to be asleep. The woman later explained she was grieving the death of her child’s father, a revelation that triggered public outrage and renewed calls for a boycott.
Following the controversy, multiple U.S. entertainment outlets reported unusually low ticket sales for some of Burna Boy’s tour dates, prompting promoters to cancel several shows.
