Nollywood Guilds Suspend Taiye Arimoro, Order Public Apology

Nollywood’s leadership has taken decisive action following the heated altercation on the set of Peggy Ovire’s film Pieces of Love, as AGN president Emeka Rollas announced the joint suspension of actor Taiye Arimoro. The verdict, delivered in collaboration with the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP), marks one of the strongest disciplinary moves in the industry this year.

Rollas shared the announcement with an emotional note, saying the decision was driven by “responsibility, compassion, and a desire to restore trust” within Nollywood. He stressed that the AGN is a family, adding, “Every decision we take must protect the wellbeing of our members.”

According to the jointly signed document dated 27 November 2025, the three guilds thoroughly reviewed the findings of their disciplinary committees. Their conclusion was clear: Taiye Arimoro was the primary aggressor during the conflict that occurred on set. He was found guilty of assaulting both the production manager and the driver, and of circulating a misleading live video that distorted the actual incident. The video had wrongly implicated producer Peggy Ovire, even though she was not present during the initial confrontation. The committee cleared the director, production manager, and crew of any wrongdoing.

As a result, the guilds issued a unified decision suspending Arimoro from all Nollywood productions until further notice. He is ordered to make a public apology to the production manager, director and Peggy Ovire, release a corrective video outlining the real events of the incident, return to complete his remaining scenes for Pieces of Love under strict supervision and obey all future directives from the guilds.

The joint verdict also addressed the role of Peggy Ovire. While she was not part of the initial altercation, the report noted that her emotional reaction at the estate gate later contributed to tensions outside the compound. She has been directed to:

Write official apology letters to all three guilds, apologise to the estate management, submit a written undertaking promising improved personnel handling on future productions and sign an undertaking on behalf of her driver, Mr. Joshua.

The move has sparked intense conversation across Nollywood, with many praising the guilds for taking firm steps to restore discipline and professionalism on movie sets.
