Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire has formally rejected actor Taye Arimoro’s N100 million compensation demand, describing his allegations of assault as “misleading, selective, and materially false.”
In a statement released through her legal representatives, Peggy debunked Taye’s version of events, alleging that he twisted the facts surrounding the on-set incident.
According to the letter, Taye was invited back to set to resolve earlier issues, but instead returned aggressively and allegedly attacked members of the crew.
Peggy’s lawyers stated:
“Your client’s allegations are misleading, selective, and materially false.”
They alleged that upon returning to the location, Taye became confrontational, assaulted the Production Manager, and even head-butted Peggy’s driver, leaving him injured.
Peggy’s team added that several witnesses already gave statements to the police confirming Taye’s behaviour during the confrontation.
They further alleged that Taye attempted to run away from the scene, and that any physical restraint on him was only to prevent his escape until police arrived.
The actress denied ever assaulting Taye. According to the statement, the only contact she made was when she pushed him lightly after he attempted to deflate her tyres.
Her team also dismissed Taye’s claims of mob violence, a broken jaw, harassment, or any form of brutality as fabricated and inconsistent with eyewitness accounts.

Peggy’s lawyers rejected the N100 million compensation request, warning that they may file petitions against Taye for Assault, defamation and interference with production.

They also emphasized that the matter is currently under investigation at the police station and by the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
Sharing the legal statement on Instagram, Peggy broke her silence with a firm caption:
“My silence should not be taken for weakness… the truth will unfold.”
The controversy continues to spark reactions from Nollywood fans and colleagues as both sides maintain sharply conflicting accounts of what happened on set.
