Nigerian music mogul and Mavin Records founder, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has opened up once again about why he cannot return to his former marriage with his ex-wife, Michelle Jackson.
The 42-year-old producer made the revelation during an interactive session with fans on X after he was urged to “reconcile again” since he remains unmarried.
A fan had shared an old wedding photo of Don Jazzy and Michelle with a cheeky caption. Responding to the nostalgic post, Don Jazzy wrote:
“Ex wifee, na for step we stand before una start with una long long talk.”
The conversation quickly escalated when another fan, identified as @kbabaa, pleaded with him:
“Mk una reconcile again naa.”
But Don Jazzy shut down the request with a blunt reply:
“She don remarry.”
Don Jazzy first revealed in 2021 that he had once been married, shocking fans across the world. He explained that he tied the knot with Michelle Jackson in his early twenties, but the marriage crashed two years later because of his deep focus on his music dreams.
He joked about their wedding day during the same X interaction:
“No mind me you know say I no Dey ever serious. Her name is Michelle Jackson that year, na so the registrar ask if she go change name to Michelle Ajereh? I say no o, say me I go take her surname begin answer Michael Jackson. lol”
While the producer laughed about the past, his response made it clear that reconciliation is impossible as Michelle has moved on with her life.
Don Jazzy has repeatedly stated that he is not thinking about remarrying in the near future. According to him, the demands of his career would only recreate the same challenges that caused the end of his first marriage.
He believes his dedication to music, the same drive that shaped his success makes settling down difficult.
Despite this, the Mavin boss says he remains fulfilled through the legacy he is building in the music industry. Over the years, he has discovered and mentored some of Afrobeats’ biggest stars, including Wande Coal, Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks, Rema, Ayra Starr, and more.
For Don Jazzy, even without a wife, purpose and impact remain his greatest sources of joy.
