Media personality and popular Twitter influencer Dami Foreign has sparked debate online after expressing disappointment in the birthday gift Chioma Avril Rowland (Chef Chi) gave her husband, Davido, for his 33rd birthday.
Davido, who recently celebrated his birthday in style, received a luxury designer bag from his wife. But Dami Foreign was unimpressed, arguing that the gift did not match the level of the G-Wagon Davido bought for Chioma during her own birthday celebration.
According to Dami, the gesture seemed unequal, and he questioned why the singer received something “so small” despite his lavish display of love in the past.
The influencer wrote that the gift bag is nothing compared to the G-Wagon OBO bought her, a statement that immediately triggered mixed reactions across social media:
“Davido bought Chioma G-Wagon for her birthday but see wetin Chioma buy for Davido for his birthday.”
While Dami Foreign criticised the gift, many fans argued that love is not measured by price tags and that Davido likely appreciated the sentimental value.
One fan, @heather_loves_afrobeats, asked, “What do you even give someone that already has everything lol.” Another fan, @posh_rawyaltyboutique, commented, “Make she buy am house… Nah she dey sing song…” A user identified as @mommyasa criticised those mocking Chioma, “Untop gift wey person gift her husband? Iwa palapala ati oro ode por lowo pupo ninu yin.”
@charity_williamx hinted that critics may not know the price of the luxury bag, “Guess he doesn’t know the worth of that bag.” Another user, @cakevendorsconnect, said the backlash was unnecessary, “Is it a competition between spouses now? Your comment isn’t needed.”
But perhaps the most emotional reaction came from @_miracleop, who reminded critics that Chioma has already given Davido the ultimate gift, “The twins that she gave him is the best gift u can give any man. Abeg free my Goat and his wife.”
Even though Dami Foreign insisted his comment was simply an observation, many fans maintained that Davido and Chioma’s relationship should not be reduced to the value of birthday presents. For them, the couple’s bond strengthened through tragedy, healing, and new beginnings matters far more than designer items.
