Content Is Nigeria’s Biggest Export — D’Banj Launches UN-Supported NYPD New Movement To Empower Nigerian Youth

Award-winning entertainer and tech entrepreneur D’Banj has recorded another major milestone months after Afreximbank acquired equity in his C.R.E.A.M Platform, this time partnering with the United Nations to launch the Nigerian Youth Positively Driven (NYPD) initiative.

The project was unveiled at the UN@80 celebration in Abuja, where the Creative Alliance for Peace was also officially launched. The NYPD initiative serves as a nationwide call for Nigerians to document and celebrate positive actions happening in their communities.

Through the NYPD portal, both video creators and those featured in the submitted clips stand a chance to win financial rewards: ₦1,000,000 Grant for individuals featured in selected videos, and ₦250,000 Grant for the uploaders.

These awards will be issued weekly as part of a large-scale national campaign to spotlight youth-led impact, innovation, and community transformation.

Once winners emerge on the C.R.E.A.M platform, the entries are passed on to the Creative Alliance for Peace for further amplification, development, and deployment within local communities. The alliance will also direct selected projects toward renewable energy and sustainability-driven solutions across Nigeria.

Speaking about the partnership and the purpose of NYPD, D’Banj emphasized the need for stronger creative support systems for Nigerian youth.

“When you talk about the creative industry, we all know that today, content is the biggest export that we have as a nation. Unfortunately, we don’t have enough strong alliances or platforms where the youths can effectively access support.”

He added that Africa’s creative potential remains largely untapped:

“Africa is the biggest when it comes to creativity and we have not even scratched 20%. I think it is so important to come together to have that voice.”

D’Banj described the NYPD project as a movement powered by young Nigerians committed to change:

“We’re moving and the movement is called Nigerian Youths Positively Driven (NYPD). With it, we have created the alliance and we now need the youths who are positively driven to jump on it.”

The NYPD portal is now open for submissions from across Nigeria. Young people are encouraged to upload videos, share inspiring stories, and highlight positive actions taking place in their communities.

According to organizers, the initiative aims not only to reward creativity and impact but also to shift national attention toward progress, innovation, and the individuals driving meaningful change.
