Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has officially taken legal action against his colleague Peggy Ovire, accusing her of assaulting him on a movie set and demanding N100 million in damages.
The dispute began last week after a viral video posted by Arimoro showed him with visible injuries on his gums and lips. In the video, he alleged that Peggy instructed her driver to block his vehicle so he wouldn’t leave the set. According to him, his tyres were deflated and he was physically attacked in the process.
Arimoro further claimed that the situation became so tense that he started an Instagram Live “for safety” after receiving threats from crew members. He also alleged that Peggy attempted to delete evidence from his phone.
Reacting to the accusations, Peggy shared her own version of events. She accused Taye Arimoro of physically attacking two crew members first, claiming she only stepped in to stop the chaos. According to her, the actor “drove off while I was still beside the car”, and her driver was later found bleeding from the ear after allegedly being hit by Arimoro.
However, the story took a dramatic turn when CCTV footage surfaced online; footage that contradicted Peggy’s claims. In the video, Peggy was seen removing her wig, handing her phone to someone, and appearing ready to physically confront Taye. Many online users said the footage clearly showed who was lying.
In a document dated November 18, 2025, issued by Inibehe Effiong Chambers, Arimoro launched a legal complaint claiming his fundamental rights were violated while on set.
He listed several injuries including, fractured mandible, human bite marks, multiple bruises, emotional and psychological trauma.
His lawyers argued that his rights to personal liberty, movement, and dignity were breached. They added that the incident caused loss of earnings and “severe mental stress.” The legal team issued a 7-day ultimatum for Peggy to respond.
On Instagram, Arimoro wrote:
“@peggyovire, PRE-ACTION NOTICE In light of the incident referenced in this correspondence, you have been served. Kindly forward all responses to my solicitors as indicated.”
He also shared screenshots of the petitions and letters sent to Peggy’s team, demanding a public video apology posted across all her platforms and N100 million compensation.
This legal battle has sparked intense debate across social media, with fans choosing sides as more evidence continues to emerge.
