Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has stepped into the ongoing controversy surrounding Regina Daniels’ claims that she married Senator Ned Nwoko at the age of 17.
Regina’s revelation had stirred a wave of reactions online, with many Nigerians doubting the timeline of her marriage to the Delta-born politician.
In a new statement shared online, Doris Ogala; a close friend of Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, threw her weight behind the embattled actress, saying she personally verified the facts.
According to Doris, she has seen Regina’s birth certificate and international passport, both confirming that the actress was born in October 2001 and got married in May 2019, making her 17 years old at the time of marriage.
“Only a mother will tell you when she gave birth to her child,” Doris said. “I’ve seen Regina’s birth certificate and international passport. Gina was born on 10 Oct 2001. She got married sometime in May 2019. She was 17+ when she married.”
The actress emphasized that her statement wasn’t a rumor or assumption but a fact backed by documentation and first-hand relationship with Regina’s family.
Doris Ogala’s statement comes shortly after a growing debate online about Regina Daniels’ true age at the time of her marriage.
Earlier, Delta State Government aide Ossai Ovie Success slammed Mercy Johnson for spreading what he called “falsehood” about Regina’s marriage age, warning Nigerians to stop pushing narratives that could “destroy the love between the couple.”
