Filmmaker Stanley Ontop Slams Senators’ Wives Association — Speak Out, It Might Be You Tomorrow

Nigerian filmmaker Stanley Ontop has called out the wives of Nigerian senators for staying silent amid the unfolding marital crisis involving actress Regina Daniels and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.

In a post shared via his Instagram story, Stanley expressed disbelief at their silence, referencing Regina’s position as the Secretary of the Senators’ Wives Association, a title she received in 2023.

“Senators’ wives association, how far na? Una never hear wetin dey happen to una Secretary? Mrs Akpabio, what’s up? Is Nigeria actually a working country? It might be you tomorrow, speak out now!”

Stanley’s post has since sparked conversations online, with many applauding him for speaking up while others questioned the seeming lack of response from political circles.

Earlier in the week, the filmmaker also lamented his inability to be in Abuja to show physical support, saying:

“If I were in Abuja, I would have mounted outside the court and made noise. Ned Nwoko is using taxpayers’ money to fight his own constituent.”

His comments came amid widespread reactions to Regina Daniels’ emotional posts, where she hinted at distress in her marriage, drawing concern from fellow entertainers and fans.

Actress Mary Njoku penned an open letter to Regina, saying that watching her cry for help online “broke her heart.” She wrote:

“We watched you grow into the woman you are today. It’s painful seeing you go through this, and the comments online are even more heartbreaking.”

Another actress, Anita Joseph, criticized Ned Nwoko for “bullying Regina’s family” and urged him to release her brother, Sammy.

“Marriage isn’t by force. She’s allowed to leave”, Anita stated, calling for peace and maturity.

Also weighing in, Precious Chikwendu, ex-wife of former minister Femi Fani-Kayode, questioned the silence of both the Actors Guild of Nigeria and those Regina has supported over the years.

“Regina is too young for this. Why torture someone you promised to love and protect?” she wrote. “This is narcissistic and vicious.”

As the controversy continues to unfold, public attention remains fixed on how the Senators’ Wives Association will respond to Stanley Ontop’s bold call-out.
