Reality TV star and media personality Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has condemned the reaction of Nigerians to the recent rape allegations involving actress Regina Daniels, describing the treatment of women in the country as deeply unfair.
Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) account, Tacha expressed frustration over how society often downplays violence against women while focusing on irrelevant details about their lifestyle.
“Being a woman in this part of the world feels like a crime,” she wrote. “Someone cries out that she’s been raped, drugged, and beaten, and instead of outrage, society starts dragging her for flying private jets and traveling the world.”
She continued:
“So because she lived well, she deserves to be abused? That’s the sickness of this society, a place where people justify violence against women but envy their freedom. At this point, what hope does the girl child even have #ProtectWomen #Justiceforreginadaniels.”
Tacha’s bold statement comes amid growing social media debates following Regina Daniels’ revelation that she was drugged and raped, allegedly during a visit to her husband’s property.
Her comments have resonated widely online, with many applauding her courage to address what she described as a “sickness” in societal attitudes toward women’s rights and protection.
Fellow Big Brother Naija winner, Phyna, also weighed in on the situation, echoing Tacha’s sentiment about the struggles women face.
“A girl gets injected and raped in a man’s house, steady hospital yet everybody is laughing. Omo… being a woman is hard”, Phyna wrote via X.
Both reality stars have joined the call for justice for Regina Daniels, urging Nigerians to stand with victims instead of trivializing their trauma.
