Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, has once again etched her name in global culinary history after receiving her second Guinness World Record plaque, this time for cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
According to Guinness World Records, the Nigerian chef prepared an astonishing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice during a Lagos cookout in September. The confirmation makes her the official title holder for the Largest Pot of Jollof Rice in the world.
This milestone comes just over a year after her first Guinness title in May 2023, when she completed a 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon, a feat that inspired millions across Africa and beyond.
With both titles, Hilda Baci becomes Nigeria’s first and most decorated chef to hold multiple Guinness World Records.
Sharing photos of her new plaques on Instagram, the chef described her double recognition as a journey of “faith, fire, and history”.
“Our plaques are finally here! Two records. Two plaques. One story of faith, fire, and history. Twice, God showed up for me. Twice, we made history for Nigeria”, she wrote.
She added that her collaboration with Gino for the jollof rice challenge created something monumental, attracting global attention and uniting food lovers worldwide.
“Together with Gino, we created something bigger than ourselves, a story that reached over five billion people and reminded the world what’s possible when passion meets purpose. I’m a two-time world record holder, someone pinch me.”
Quoting Isaiah 61:7, she reflected on her faith through the journey, saying:
“Instead of shame, you will receive a double portion… and everlasting joy will be yours.”
The record-breaking event drew over 20,000 guests, including celebrities, food lovers, and influencers. Every portion of the massive jollof pot was distributed to attendees and charity organizations in compliance with Guinness verification standards.
