Nollywood star Mercy Johnson-Okojie has joined the ongoing conversation surrounding Regina Daniels’ brother, Samuel Ojeagwu, calling for his immediate release after reports surfaced that he was arrested and flown from Lagos to Abuja under unclear circumstances.
Taking to her Instagram Story, the veteran actress expressed outrage at what she described as “pretended justice,” questioning the transparency of the legal process surrounding Sammy’s arrest.
“The worse form of injustice is pretended justice… A child was arrested, no one can or has been allowed to see him for 2 days, he was flown from Lagos to Abuja and is allegedly being taken to court from the airport… How did we get here? Nigeria… Wow,” she wrote, ending her message with the hashtags #whereissamuel and #freesamuelojeagwu.
The post has since gone viral, stirring a heated debate among fans and netizens. While some praised Mercy Johnson for using her platform to speak against injustice, others questioned her moral authority to do so.
Instagram user @sirodelle commented, “Wow? I didn’t know Mercy can advocate for injustice in Nigeria. Good to know.”
Another user, @princesnarna, brought up a past controversy involving the actress, saying, “No be the same Mercy Johnson wey arrest Angela Okorie na him dey write dis thing so.” User @jennmia01 took a broader jab at the state of the country, writing, “You see Nigeria breakfast? Everybody must chop am one way or the other… I come in peace.”
@beingreal111 questioned the actress, “So Regina’s elder brother is now a ‘child’? On top emotional blackmail?” Meanwhile, @mzjessyfab added, “Why fly him from Lagos to Abuja? He kee person, this country self.”
And in a lighter tone, @realcharity.chris joked, “Omo, plenty issues dey ground for Trump to settle for this country.”
