Chocolate City CEO Abuchi Peter Ugwu has finally responded to recent criticism from rapper Odumodublvck, who accused him and music icon MI Abaga of hypocrisy and “sitting on the fence” amid the rapper’s ongoing tension with Chocolate City artist Blaqbonez.
The drama began on November 1, when Odumodublvck took to social media to vent his frustrations, calling out MI directly in a now-viral post.
“You stood in front of a blatant and decided to sit on the fence like Abuchi. I have lost every iota of respect for you”, the rapper wrote.
While Odumodublvck’s comments stirred heavy online debates about loyalty, leadership, and hip-hop unity, Abuchi’s response took a completely different tone; one of calm, depth, and maturity.
In a series of posts shared via his official Instagram page, the Chocolate City boss chose peace over confrontation, quoting Hebrews 12:14:
“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone.”
Abuchi continued,
“We’re not reacting. We’re building. Standing on foundations laid by great talents and executives before us… people who sacrificed so we could dream bigger. The goal is simple: build something the next generation can reach from. Real strength is restraint. Love remains the banner of perfection. 🤍 Still building.”
Abuchi reinforced his message with a follow-up that many fans have described as “boardroom poetry.”
“Peace over noise. Purpose over ego. Legacy over hype. A nation only grows when those who plant trees don’t mind never sitting under the shade.🌳”
He also stressed that his focus remains on long-term growth and legacy rather than social media controversy.
“I’m not moved by noise. I’m moved by purpose. Love is the banner of perfection, the force that keeps vision pure and progress consistent. We’re building culture, not chaos. A new system, not sides. And when the dust settles, it’ll be clear who was working… and who was just talking.”
Abuchi’s message has since earned widespread praise from fans and industry figures for its composure and visionary tone.
Instagram user @timskilz wrote, “Well said boss, in due time it will be well understood.” @tunde_tnt added, “Follow peace with all men has been the goals always, we don’t take nonsense but we follow peace!”
@steevaneagain added, “Full barrels are quiet, but when they speak, the earth rumbles.” Another fan, @mr_goldima, summed it up simply: “Legacy steady.”
As tensions simmer in the Nigerian hip-hop space, Abuchi’s statement has been widely seen as a reminder that true leadership in the industry isn’t about picking sides, it’s about building systems that last longer than the noise.
