Dayo Ajifowoke’s ‘Depth of Us’ Wins Heart Beyond Africa

Nigerian filmmaker Dayo Ajifowoke is earning international praise for his movie Depth of Us. With a strong desire to tell stories that capture Africa’s depth, humanity, and beauty, his vision is finding new ground as the award-winning film continues its global journey, now reaching audiences aboard Emirates Airlines.

Through his production company, Face of Africa Media Concept, Ajifowoke has positioned himself as one of the filmmakers leading the charge for authentic African storytelling. Depth of Us explores themes of love, identity, and redemption in a way that connects deeply with both African and international viewers.

“For me, this goes beyond cinema; it’s about changing how the world sees Africa through storytelling. Having Depth of Us featured on Emirates Airlines means people from every continent can now experience the richness and soul of African creativity,” Ajifowoke said.

The film, produced by Ajifowoke and executive produced by Amanda Chinda, CEO of Omax Media House, Co-funded by Ayokunle Mbiola CEO of Mofeti Production and TWAYMEDIA UK, enjoyed strong support from Strix, a brand known for backing innovative African projects. Since its release, Depth of Us has made an impressive run across international film festivals.

It won Best Nollywood Drama at the 2024 Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF) in Canada, was a Finalist at both the YORA International Film Awards in Kenya and the International Black & Diversity Film Festival (IBDFF) in Canada, and was also screened at the Moonlight Film Festival in London during Nigeria Week UK 2025.

Beyond filmmaking, Ajifowoke has remained passionate about connecting Africa’s creative industries. Through Face of Africa Media Concept, he has helped promote films from Kenya, South Africa, Cameroon, Ghana, and Nigeria, linking them with international audiences and streaming platforms eager for original African stories.

Following the success of Depth of Us, Ajifowoke has been invited to serve as a jury member at the Reffa Awards in Ghana and the Christmas Spirit Film Festival in the UK, further proof of his growing influence as a cultural ambassador for African cinema.
