Reports from Tanzania reveal that a store owned by popular singer Juma Jux, reportedly valued at over $780 million has been set ablaze and completely destroyed during violent protests that erupted following the country’s tense presidential election.
According to social media reports shared by Bolaji Fesomade, the chaos broke out late Wednesday night after disputed election results triggered widespread unrest in several parts of the country.
“Reports from Tanzania say singer Juma Jux’s store, worth over $780 million, has been set ablaze and completely destroyed by protesters. The violence erupted after yesterday’s tense presidential election, which sparked chaos and unrest across several parts of the country”, the post read.
Eyewitness videos circulating online show smoke billowing from what appears to be Jux’s luxury store, though official statements from the singer or local authorities have yet to be released at the time of this report.
The incident has since generated shock and sympathy across East Africa, with many fans expressing heartbreak over the massive loss.
Juma Jux, known for his hit songs Utaniua and In Case You Don’t Know, has built a strong reputation as both a musician and entrepreneur. The Tanzanian star, who was previously linked romantically to Nigerian influencer Priscilla Ojo, has often flaunted his high-end fashion brand and store as one of his biggest achievements.
The ongoing protests have led to multiple reports of property damage across major Tanzanian cities, with local security operatives working to restore calm.
As of now, Juma Jux has not released an official statement regarding the alleged destruction of his property.
