Legendary Nigerian singer Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba is receiving heat online after fans noticed a major omission in his 25 Years in the Industry appreciation letter.
The multi-award-winning artist, who marked his silver jubilee in music with an open letter of gratitude, poured out his heart to several people who have supported his career.
In the lengthy note, he thanked his new wife Natasha, his former bandmates Blackface and Faze, his long-time manager Efe Omorogbe, and several colleagues, family members, and industry figures who played key roles in his journey.
2Baba also announced that he would be hosting a grand anniversary concert at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, on November 14, 2025, to celebrate the milestone with fans and friends.
But what caught the attention of many online was the absence of Annie Idibia, his former wife and mother of two of his children, from the heartfelt message.
Fans took to social media to express disappointment, accusing the singer of ignoring the woman who “stood by him when things were rough.”
@Chrissyuneze1 wrote, “Wife of a few months don collect appreciation. Ikegwuru! Congratulations sir.” @ezibabyy commented, “In all this, I didn’t see Annie’s appreciation because she was there for you as a wife then.”
@officialJordan added, “Where is the credit to Annie that stood by you?” @miss_ulalia_landers said, “Give Annie her flowers! She was the grace carrier.” @puritymoses noted, “Not thanking the wife of many years ago who stood by you is wickedness.”
Others threw subtle shade. @sandymodiva wrote, “Which wife exactly? The one that was in Nursery school when you started, or the one that was there from the beginning?”
@chefbraakman claimed, “We know who wrote this one. The former one had Annie and the rest of the mothers of his kids.” @ennybestsalon added, “After make una dey make person dey suffer with man.”
While 2Baba’s letter has been widely praised for its depth and sincerity, the social media debate shows that many fans still hold strong emotional connections to his long and complicated love story with Annie.
As of the time of this report, neither 2Baba nor Annie has addressed the social media backlash.
