The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested popular Lagos socialite Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, better known as Pretty Mike, alongside several others, following an alleged drug party in Lagos.
According to a statement released by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the operation took place in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, when operatives raided Proxy Nightclub, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island.
The agency disclosed that the raid was based on credible intelligence suggesting that a drug-themed party was ongoing at the venue. NDLEA officers, who had been embedded in the party since around 11 p.m. on Saturday, disrupted the gathering at 3 a.m.
“Over 100 suspects, including the owner of the club, Pretty Mike, were arrested and taken into custody for screening. Cartons of illicit substances, including Loud and laughing gas, were recovered from both suspects and the club’s store”, Babafemi said in the statement.
The NDLEA clarified that the operation was conducted in line with its Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and that all suspects are currently undergoing screening for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the news has sparked mixed reactions across social media.
One user, @i.tobiloba, questioned the agency’s selective actions, writing: “So, NDLEA didn’t raid Ned Nwoko’s compound? This is obviously some club competitors behind this.”
Another, @dr_alwaysrozy, lamented, “Drug addiction has taken over this generation.” Others expressed disbelief, with @big_mikeoflos commenting, “This is clearly a set-up, but we all know Pretty Mike will come out of this stronger! This is good publicity.”
Some users also drew controversial comparisons, with @omoajala_ saying, “When NDLEA go raid Regina Daniels’ house abeg?”
As of press time, the NDLEA has not released further details on the outcome of the screening or confirmed whether any charges will be filed against Pretty Mike or other suspects.
