It seems the long-standing cold war between Seyi Shay and Tiwa Savage might finally be melting away. The “Right Now” hitmaker has just hinted she’s open to reconciling with Tiwa, years after one of the most talked-about celebrity showdowns in Nigerian music.
In a recent chat with Punch, Seyi Shay reflected on her decade-long journey in the music industry and admitted that growth has taught her the power of communication over confrontation.
“We were both under pressure and navigating a very competitive industry. When emotions run high, it’s easy to miscommunicate or react defensively,” she said. “If I could go back, I would choose communication over confrontation. That’s the beauty of growth.”
The singer addressed the long-standing tension between her and Tiwa Savage, which once sparked a public altercation and even inspired a diss track. But today, Seyi says there’s no bad blood.
“I have never had any reason to celebrate another woman’s challenge or misfortune,” she explained. “I respect Tiwa’s journey deeply. She’s an incredible artiste and a trailblazer.”
Reacting to Tiwa Savage’s recent comments that she’s open to a conversation to clear the air, Seyi Shay confirmed she’s also ready for peace.
“Yes, I would. Life is too short for lingering tension,” she said. “If having that conversation helps heal narratives and sets a better example for women in music, I’m open to it — whether privately or publicly.”
She added that her current focus is on evolution, peace, and purpose; not drama.
“My sound and message now come from a place of peace, intention, and truth,” she said. “I’ve evolved from being just a performer to becoming a storyteller and woman of purpose.”
The internet has since caught the wave of her calm maturity, with fans already rooting for a collaboration.
