Social media is buzzing with speculation about Nollywood couple Peggy Ovire and Frederick Leonard, after the actor noticeably failed to celebrate his wife’s birthday online.
Peggy, who turned a year older yesterday, received warm wishes from fans and fellow Nollywood stars — but her husband’s silence became the major talking point.
Eagle-eyed fans quickly flooded Peggy’s comment section, questioning why Frederick didn’t make a public post for her. Some also pointed out that the actress has recently been spotted without her wedding ring.
One fan, @SandyVictorosazee, wrote: “Wedding ring is already in the bin.” Another, @official_harret, commented: “Hmmmm, ur hubby doesn’t wish u happy birthday. It’s real.” @oyibo_family added: “Why your hubby no post you, e get as e be, e be as e get.”
The couple, who tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony in Asaba, Delta State, on November 19, 2022, have often been the subject of online gossip, from alleged cheating rumours to claims of marital tension.
Last December, Frederick addressed speculations about their marriage, warning bloggers to stop spreading false reports. He maintained that he and Peggy owe no one explanations about how they choose to express their relationship, adding that “marriage is not slavery.”
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Peggy’s wedding ring, or lack of it, has stirred reactions.
In a previous post, a fan had questioned why she wasn’t wearing her ring, and Peggy clapped back sharply, reminding critics that she is a woman with “beauty, brains, and her own bag.”
She also once dismissed claims that she forced Frederick into marriage, saying she knows her worth and wouldn’t have to coerce anyone into marrying her.
As of press time, Frederick Leonard has yet to make any public statement regarding his wife’s birthday, leaving fans divided, with some urging privacy and others insisting “something is definitely off.”
