Nigerian music superstar Davido has once again warmed hearts after commissioning a new hostel named after his late mother, Dr. Vero Adeleke, at Clifford University, Abia State.
The Afrobeats icon, who was accompanied by members of his 30BG crew and nightlife king Cubana Chief Priest, made the emotional visit to the institution where he officially unveiled the Dr. Veronica Adeleke Hostel.
In a touching speech during the event, Davido said the project was dedicated not only to his mother but also to young Africans with big dreams.
“This hostel is for her and for every young African chasing their dreams, and who believes they can rise higher together”, he said.
Following the ceremony, Davido’s wife, Chioma Adeleke, took to her Instagram story to react to her husband’s heartwarming gesture. In a short but emotional post, she wrote:
“So beautiful.”
The singer’s late mother, Dr. Veronica Imade Adeleke, passed away in 2003 at the age of 40. Davido has often spoken about how much she meant to him, describing her as the driving force behind his compassion and philanthropy.
Chioma’s admiration for her husband’s recent achievements didn’t stop there. When news broke that Davido would be headlining Coachella 2026, she proudly shared the announcement poster on her page, accompanied by crying and fire emojis, expressing both pride and emotion.
The couple, who tied the knot earlier this year in a star-studded ceremony, have continued to capture fans’ hearts with their deep affection and unity. Marking their one-month anniversary in September, Chioma shared beautiful photos from their wedding, writing that she was “still soaking it all in.”
Davido, who commented under her post calling it “the best day ever,” has repeatedly described his wife as his biggest blessing. During their wedding vows, he told Chioma that she saw the real him and still chose him, adding that she is his “healer and calm in the storm.”
Chioma, on her part, described Davido as her “love, best friend, and the calm in her storm.”
In a previous interview, Chioma revealed that Davido has always been supportive of her goals, saying he constantly encourages her to pursue her dreams. The music star also once admitted that Chioma’s presence in his life directly influences his career success, saying, “My business always suffers whenever we fight.”
With his latest gesture at Clifford University, Davido not only continues to immortalize his late mother’s name but also strengthens the legacy of love and family that defines his journey.
