Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has joined the conversation on domestic violence following her colleague Regina Daniels’ viral outcry over alleged abuse in her marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko.
Earlier, Regina Daniels made headlines after a disturbing video surfaced online showing her in distress while her brothers confronted men alleged to have been sent by her husband.
The incident, which has since gone viral, stirred widespread reactions from fans and colleagues within the entertainment industry.
Reacting to the situation, Angela Okorie initially expressed confusion after being mistakenly tagged in the viral video, humorously asking if she was the one “beaten in a Ferrari and private jet.” However, the actress has now taken a firmer stance, using her platform to condemn all forms of domestic violence.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Angela wrote:
“Getting to know what a lot of our women go through, I mean the physical abuse, the pain, the silence, domestic violence is never justified. No man has the right to raise his hands on a woman. Not in anger, not in love, not in marriage, NEVER ever!”
She urged women facing abuse to break their silence, stressing that silence only protects their abusers.
“To every woman going through abuse, speak up! Your silence protects your abuser, not you. Marriage is not a prison. Love is not meant to hurt.”
Calling on society at large, the actress rallied support for victims:
“I am calling on every woman, every voice, every platform, let’s speak louder against domestic violence. Let’s protect our sisters, mothers, and anyone going through abuse at the hands of their partners. You are not alone. We demand protection. Every woman should be treated with dignity and respect. Enough is ENOUGH! #SayNoToDomesticViolence.”
While details surrounding the alleged incident remain unclear, Angela Okorie’s statement has added a strong voice to the ongoing discussion on the need to end domestic abuse.
