“My Father Disowned Me for Choosing Music” — Goodgirl LA Opens Up on Pain and Family Pressure

Nigerian rising star Goodgirl LA, born Euphemia Ekumah, has opened up on her difficult past, revealing how her father disowned her for choosing to pursue music over university education.

In a recent interview with Hip TV, the “Early Momo” crooner spoke candidly about her regrets, family pressure, and the pain of following her passion.

“I have never regretted not completing school. I wish I never went to school. I wish I left home earlier. That’s my only regret. I wish I never wrote JAMB”, she said.

Goodgirl LA recounted that her father forced her to write the university entrance exam despite her lack of interest in formal education.

“I wish I ran away when my dad was forcing me to write JAMB. I wish I started chasing my dreams earlier. But I was 16 and unsure of what to do. However, when I was around 17 or 18, I got clarity and absconded from home”, she revealed.

The singer further disclosed that her decision led to a serious fallout with her father, who threw her out of the house.

“When I told my parents that I wasn’t interested in going to school anymore, my dad asked me to leave his house. It was crazy. At one point, my dad even disowned me. Then, I left home”, she said.

However, Goodgirl LA noted that her family later reconciled with her after she began making a name for herself in the Nigerian music scene.

Her story has since resonated deeply with fans who praise her courage for choosing passion over pressure.
