Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has stirred emotions online after candidly revealing that she’s open to becoming a second wife.
Speaking on the American podcast Air Service, the 45-year-old Afrobeats sensation said she’s reached a point in her life where most of her potential suitors are already married or much older.
“If I meet somebody who can really marry me, they are either in their 50s or already married. So, I don’t know. Maybe I can be a second wife. I think so. I could be a second wife”, Tiwa said with a laugh.
The “Somebody’s Son” crooner went on to explain that she wouldn’t be a difficult co-wife if such a situation ever played out.
“I think I can get along with the first wife, and she’s going to love me because I’m not going to be troublesome. I’ll be going on tours, I’m not going to stress you. I’m very respectful. I know you’re the first wife, and I would accord you that respect”, she added.
Her open-minded comments have since gone viral, sparking heated debates across social media.
One X user, @xhakabwoy, commented: “This is what happens when women hit the wall. They now realize their dream man isn’t possible…”
Another, @tosinjones_gidi, wrote: “You leave a cheating man and start dating married men. Now you want to be a second wife. Make it make sense please.” Meanwhile, @seanelhadji added: “A stern reminder that men are the prize!”
Tiwa Savage, who was previously married to music executive Tunji Balogun (TBillz) between 2013 and 2018, shares a son with him. Their marriage ended amid mutual accusations of infidelity and emotional strain.
Her remarks also come days after veteran comedian Ali Baba defended polygamy, claiming it reduces infidelity and fosters peace in homes, further fueling public reactions to Tiwa’s confession.
