BBNaija Reality star Tochi, has taken a swipe at online activist VDM following his recent clash with tech entrepreneur Blord.
In a lengthy Instagram story, Tochi criticized self-proclaimed activists who he says lose their authenticity once they gain fame and money.
“It takes real discipline to call yourself an activist, being stubborn doesn’t make you one,” Tochi wrote. “Now you’ve made a little money, and suddenly the nation’s problems have turned into an obsession with the iPhone 17. Back when you were in your room drinking pure water, you actually made sense.”
He added,
“You can’t claim to be an activist until you have enough to live comfortably and still choose to stand with the people. All these flashy phones and gadgets you’re flaunting, it’s all just noise. You’re not different from the rest of them. Same game, same hypocrisy. You just want to sell your market.”
The post, which many fans believe was directed at VDM, has sparked mixed reactions online.
@ezeqwesiri wrote, “There’s a thin line between activism and antagonism. A real activist fights for the people, not the people.” @comediandeeone simply said, “True.”
@valoktech asked, “Who be dis one wey dey talk?” @odogwuselfish noted, “Someone finally said it as it is.”
@snazziemusic added, “This Blord matter made us realize a lot.” @el_pappis_code_of_conducts argued, “He never said he’s an activist. Meanwhile, he’s now rich, y’all can’t broke-shame him again.”
