“My Song with Zinoleesky Gave Me Just ₦4.9m” — Jo Blaq Laments Management’s 70% Cut

Fast-rising singer Jo Blaq has opened up on his fallout with his former management, claiming they ripped him off financially despite his contributions to his hit single “Jo Vibe Remix” featuring Zinoleesky.

In a new video making the rounds online, Jo Blaq alleged that his management only paid him 30% from the total royalties and earnings from the song and other performances, while they took 70%.

“My management only paid me 30% from the song I did with Zinoleesky and many shows I attended. They take 70% despite not fulfilling their promises. I’m the one doing everything for myself”, he said.

According to Jo Blaq, he received only ₦4,950,000 as his total royalties from “Jo Vibe Remix”, which became a street hit and boosted his visibility.

Reacting to his claims, his management said he wasn’t forced to sign the contract and that they had no bad intentions toward him even after his exit. They also revealed that they didn’t remove his name from City Blogs until recently.

The fallout has stirred reactions online. @rokwas wrote: “I think Olamide and Naira Marley are still the best among all these people that sign musicians.”

@wifi_da_king added: “Make una dey stay contented ooo.” @obaleerhap said: “This guy will always wona rip you with every opportunity they have.” While @sekere_337 concluded: “This guy don rip Jo😂.”

As the debate continues, Jo Blaq’s story shines a light on the growing tension between artists and managements in Nigeria’s music industry, where contracts often clash with creativity.
