Media personality and social commentator Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly known as Mr Jollof, has sparked a major conversation in the entertainment scene after calling out top Nigerian artists like Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy over their rising booking fees ahead of the festive season.
In a post shared via his Instagram story, Mr Jollof expressed concern that the skyrocketing charges might affect December shows and dampen the festive energy Nigerians have come to expect.
He wrote:
“Dear Nigerian Music Artists, The current rate of billing is becoming unrealistic. If it continues, this festive season might not deliver the energy we all expect. Fans, promoters, and communities are struggling with costs, there will be little justification to pay such high amounts. Please, let’s be reasonable so December can remain a season of joy, not disappointment.”
His statement, which comes just weeks before the peak of the December concert calendar, has since sparked reactions online, with fans divided over his remarks.
While some agreed with his take, others defended the artists’ right to charge premium fees for their craft.

One fan, @deejaymacino, sarcastically noted, “Una never see anything.” Another user, @t20luxury, joked, “Omble season 😂.”
However, @bellz_beautyy countered the criticism, saying, “Abeg allow Wizkid charge his worth, him deserve am!” while @skillful_tailor echoed the same, urging, “Charge your worth oooh.”
For some, the solution was simple, @djdeemoney suggested, “Make unna book hype men/women and DJ’s… shikena.”
