Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner, Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, has revealed her admiration for award-winning actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, describing her as her “number one mentor” in the Nigerian movie industry.
The 23-year-old reality TV star shared this during the prize presentation ceremony held in Lagos on Tuesday, where she officially received her ₦150 million grand prize and brand-new SUV.
Speaking with journalists, Imisi said her time in the Big Brother house reignited her passion for acting and storytelling.
“I think people saw a lot of my acting side while I was in the house. Even my fellow housemates said I’m a natural actress. I’m ready to do more,” she said.
“Funke Akindele is my number one mentor. I really hope to work with her one day. I also admire Bimbo Ademoye and Bolaji Ogunmola; they inspire me a lot.”
The reality star, known for her expressive personality and emotional openness throughout the show, described her BBNaija experience as “overwhelming”, adding that she is still processing the outpouring of love and support from fans nationwide.
When asked about claims that tribal loyalty influenced her victory, she responded candidly:
“Maybe. Yoruba people are very supportive of their own, so that might’ve played a role. But honestly, I believe people connected with my realness and vulnerability.”
Imisi also took a moment to appreciate her Celestial Church community for their prayers and encouragement during her stay in the house, saying their support meant the world to her.
Looking ahead, the fresh graduate and media sensation expressed her determination to build a long-lasting career in entertainment.
“Fame is new to me, but I’m ready to learn and grow. I’ll seek mentorship and be intentional about my next steps,” she concluded.
