Nigerian singer Dotman has stirred controversy online after making a cryptic comment about his collaboration with Davido on their 2020 track Escobar.

It all began when a fan, @Kastro_234, posted a screenshot of the song playing with the nostalgic caption: “Life was good when this dropped.”

Dotman reposted the tweet with a shocker: “I wish I never recorded this!

The unexpected statement quickly set off a storm on social media, with many calling the singer ungrateful for seemingly shading Davido, who is widely known for supporting upcoming acts.

Reacting, @DrEazzyOfficial tweeted: “Why? What’s your reason? Everyone who ever came in contact with OBO was blessed… Why do you wish you never met 001?”

@rawlingsappy asked: “Nah Davido spoil your career too? Explain.” And @typistapple added: “Person wey suppose to thank God say e get song with 001 Baddest.”

Others speculated that something deeper might have happened behind the scenes. “A lot goes down behind the scenes”, @LamiOOB wrote, while @barafalee_unf accused Dotman of clout-chasing: “Werey wan use Baddest trend.”

So far, Dotman’s comment has struck a nerve, and fans aren’t letting it slide anytime soon.
