Deeone Warns Against Pride, Reacting To May D's Drama

Comedian DeeOne has sparked conversation after dropping some tough truths for Nigerian artists about pride, respect, and how fame doesn’t last forever.

Speaking in a viral Instagram Reel, DeeOne said many artists don’t honour contracts, show up late, or treat people around them as unimportant.

According to him, these attitudes make promoters lose trust and eventually lead to a fall. “Your character today is your retirement plan tomorrow”, he warned.

DeeOne, however, pointed to 2Baba as the perfect example of how character sustains a career. He explained that when 2Baba is booked, he doesn’t stress organisers or act entitled, which is why people keep calling him years after his prime.

“Na character dey push 2Face now, na 2Face character dey make people dey book am”, DeeOne said, urging other artists to emulate the veteran.

He also took a swipe at singer May D, asking what he really achieved back when he was trending, while joking that May D’s line, “nobody knows tomorrow”, doesn’t count because “tomorrow is Thursday.”

DeeOne further encouraged Nigerian acts to value performing at home just as much as shows abroad, stressing that connecting with their people is what keeps careers alive.

According to him, fame is temporary, and any artist lucky to stay relevant for ten years has already done well.
