VMAs 2025 Biggest Surprise: Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Short n’ Sweet’ Crowned Best Album Over Gaga, The Weeknd & More
Sabrina Carpenter has just been officially crowned Album of the Year at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, securing the big win over heavyweights including Kendrick Lamar (GNX), Lady Gaga (Mayhem), Bad Bunny (DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS), Morgan Wallen (I’m The Problem), and The Weeknd (Hurry Up Tomorrow)
The 26-year-old pop sensation accepted the award at the UBS Arena in New York, where she emphatically declared how much the recognition meant to her.
She thanked fans for genuinely listening to her work—“whether that be Short n’ Sweet, this album, or Man’s Best Friend”, referencing both her latest and upcoming releases, respectively.
Not shy at all, Sabrina’s acceptance speech also included a bold moment: she delivered an inspiring line about how music can bring light.
Adding more wins to her night, she was also named Best Pop Artist, and her Manchild video scored honours for Best Visual Effects, achieving a rare double-win in music and visual categories.
