How Burna Boy rejected $1m performance fee in Delta – Mr Jollof
Mr Jollof, a comedian and show promoter, claims that singer Burna Boy turned down a one-million-dollar offer to perform at a concert organised by him and some investors in Warri, Delta State.
Mr Jollof, whose real name is Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, said this in an Instagram video posted on Thursday.
Mr Jollof stated that they approached the singer’s team with a $1 million (N1.3 billion) offer, which his team rejected because it was lower than the singer’s fee.
The comedian wrote in Pidgin English, “Me and some investors reached out to Burna Boy’s team for a concert in Delta State for One Million US Dollars (1.3 billion Naira today’s rate). Guess what? They said it’s too small.
“Burna Boy no dey Nigeria lane again oo because we didn’t utilise him enough before he was exported to global music market. No jokes.”
Meanwhile the city of Boston in Massachusetts, United States has declared March 2nd as “Burna Boy’s Day” in honour of the Nigerian singer.
This was contained in a document of the Boston City Council signed by Councillor Ruthzee Louijeune.
According to the document, Burna Boy was honoured in recognition of his “performances and advocacy works.”
