US releases photos of helicopter crash that killed Herbert Wigwe, others
The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released images of the debris from the helicopter accident that killed Access Holdings Plc’s group CEO Herbert Wigwe.
Michael Graham, a board member of the NTSB, visited the site with agency officials on Tuesday.
Graham emphasised the NTSB’s commitment to conducting a thorough investigation, noting that the team used overhead drones to map the wreckage and take detailed photos.
Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, first son Chizi, and former group chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo; died in the crash on February 9, 2024.
The Airbus EC130 helicopter took off from Palm Springs Airport in California and was headed for Boulder City, Nevada when it went down near Halloran Springs in California.
A total of six persons onboard the aircraft died.
Witnesses described the weather conditions during the crash as “rain with a wintery mix” to investigators, which NTSB meteorologists later supported.
Also, reports of downed power lines in the crash area are being investigated.
