Court backs Pretty Okafor as PMAN president

The National Industrial Court validated the elections for the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) held on October 24, 2023, which saw Pretty Okafor reelected as president.

In a recent decision, the National Industrial Court in Lagos confirmed Okafor’s leadership legitimacy.

In his ruling, Justice M.N Esowe stated that any defiance of the outstanding ruling constituted contempt of the court of competent jurisdiction.

The association in a statement on Saturday, expressed its gratitude to the National Industrial Court for upholding justice and preserving the democratic process within the association.

“The court’s intervention serves as a resolute stand against illegitimate actions that could compromise the integrity of the performing musicians’ community. Pretty Okafor remains committed to advancing the interests of performing musicians in Nigeria, and this ruling further reinforces the association’s dedication to upholding the rule of law,” the statement read in parts.
