Kemi Olunloyo ‘retires’ from journalism
Kemi Olunloyo, a self-described investigative journalist, has announced that she will retire from journalism on February 9, 2024, after 30 years.
The 59-year-old, who enjoys controversy, announced on Monday in a post on X that it was also her final post on the platform as a journalist.
Ms Olunloyo wrote in a post titled ‘Final Farewell Nigeria’ that she would be busy building her wellness brand Kemified Africa on Facebook and writing a book titled A Decade of IJ.
She also stated that on February 9, she will release a documentary on YouTube and TikTok.
“A year ago I left my apartment in Ajah, Lagos, Nigeria then proceeded to leave the country after 11 years wasted,” Olunloyo began.
“TODAY IS MY LAST POST ON X as a journalist in news. I officially retire from Journalism after 30 yrs on February 9th 2024 and have been COUNTING DOWN. A short documentary will be launched that day on YouTube/Tiktok #Kemitalks channel. I will be busy building my wellness brand Kemified Africa ONLY on Facebook and writing my book ‘A Decade of IJ’ depicting my investigations during my 11 yrs in Nigeria and my arrest by David Ibiyeomie.”
Olunloyo said she was no longer on WhatsApp nor had a phone number but could be contacted via email.
“I’m not crowdfunding for a media house or fundraiser for retirement. I have not authorized such. I’m just moving on with my life,” she wrote.
The controversial personality also made public various means she can be gifted money, claiming that Facebook fans and celebrities have been sending her money “from all over the world all weekend.”
