Our wish for African music has come to pass, 2Baba writes Sound Sultan

Musician 2Baba has written a message to his friend and colleague, the late Sound Sultan.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, the 48-year-old told Sound Sultan that their dream of Nigerian and African music had come true.

2Baba who is also known as 2Face joked about being an upcoming artiste.

He wrote: “YO Lanre like play like play we don enter 2024 Plenty story for ground. That our dream and wish for NAIJA/AFRICA music take over and respect don come true o, I don even turn to upcoming artist again lai dis. But we no go gree MUTIJU.”

During an interview with podcaster Adesope in August 2023, 2Baba said the cancer diagnosis for Sound Sultan was late and that they thought he was suffering from malaria.

Sound Sultan died on July 11, 2021, aged 44. He suffered from Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, also known as cancer of the throat.

2Baba and Sound Sultan were friends for over 20 years before the latter passed away.
