Peter Obi, Atiku absent in court as tribunal gives judgement
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 poll Peter Obi has stayed away from the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting at the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
As of press time on Wednesday, the tribunal already dismissed the double-nomination claim made against Vice President Kashim Shettima by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Mr Obi attended several sittings of the tribunal prior to the judgement day. One time, the renowned writer and one of Obi’s famous supporters Chimamanda Adichie was present in court.
Obi is represented in court by the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure, a lawyer.
Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar also stayed away from the tribunal. He attended sittings sparingly.
The tribunal is ruling on petitions made against the electoral victory of President Bola Tinubu by the Labour Party (LP) and Obi; the PDP and Atiku among others.
