Elon Musk reactivates Kanye West’s Twitter account after ban
Kanye West, a well-known American singer and fashion designer, has had his account restored by Elon Musk, the owner of X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
The singer won’t be able to monetize his account, and no ads will appear next to his posts, the company said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal on Saturday.
X now recognises West’s account, which has 31.5 million followers, as an official business account by giving it a golden verification tick.
Recall that the rapper’s account was suspended in December 2022 for violating the platform’s rules on inciting violence with his multiple antisemitic comments.
As of the time of filing this report, It’s unclear whether Kanye submitted an appeal or if something else prompted his account’s reactivation, as the singer has yet to post on the platform.
