Burna Boy, Ayra Starr’s songs make Obama’s summer playlist

Nigerian musicians Burna Boy and Ayra Starr have songs on former US President Barack Obama’s 2023 summer playlist.

On Thursday night, the 44th President of the United States announced the list via his Twitter account.

“‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World,’ by Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy, featuring US-based British rapper 21 Savage, and Ayra Starr’s ‘Sability’ were the only afrobeats songs on the playlist.”

Obama tweeted about the playlist, saying, “Like I do every year, here are some songs I’ve been listening to this summer — a mix of old and new.” “I’m excited to hear what I’ve missed.”

Wizkid, Tems, and Rema have previously appeared on President Obama’s playlists.

Rema’s debut EP’s ‘Iron Man’ made the 2019 Obama’s summer playlist, while Wizkid and Tems’ hit song ‘Essence’ made the 2021 Barack Obama’s summer playlist.
