BREAKING: Veteran musician, Chris Mba is dead

Chris Mba, a well-known Nigerian pop musician who was apparently suffering from heart problems, has passed away.

The musician, who was from Abia State, passed away on Wednesday at LUTH, the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.

The musician passed away on Wednesday night due to a cardiac condition, according to a post by Premier Music’s general manager Michael Odiong, who confirmed his death on Thursday.

Recall that in 2019, writer Azuka Jebose revealed in a Facebook post that the musician had texted him in distress asking for urgent financial support to pay for his hospital treatment at LUTH.

He quoted him saying, “Jebose this is a serious health challenge for me. Please, my brother help me. We buy drugs and the hospital bed costs N50,000 daily.”

Chris Mba was famous in the 80s for his signature Jerry curl and hits like ‘Funky Situation’, ‘Love Everlasting’, ‘Baby Don’t Cry’ and ‘Making my way’.
