Mama Rainbow receives lifetime achievement award at AMAA 2022

Veteran actress Mama Rainbow has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) 2022.

The award was presented to her at the event held at the Jewel Aeida, Lekki Lagos.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mama Rainbow who was dressed in a celestial attire said: “AMAA awards. You remember me after my birthday, 80 years and 55 years on stage. I dedicate this award to my Almighty, my creator, my children and my late husband.”

Also known as Iya Rainbow, the actress has been featured in several Yoruba movies.

Her stage name ‘Iya Rainbow’ stems from ‘Osumare,’ the Yoruba word for rainbow.

Mama Rainbow worked as a certified nurse in general hospitals in Nigeria for several years and occasionally acted in theatres before venturing into full-time acting.
