NOSC retains decision not to submit film for Oscars 2023 as extension expires

The Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) for the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences has retained its decision not to submit a film for the 2023 Oscars after reconvening to make a final determination regarding a submission to the International Feature Film category for the 95th Academy Awards, following a one-week extension by the Academy.

It was learnt that there will be no official submission from Nigeria for the 2023 Oscars as disclosed in the meeting chaired by the committee’s chairperson Chineze Anayene-Abonyi on Thursday.

The decision has further polarised the committee as more members have vowed to resign.
